I have blunt in spades. I started my military career in the infantry. I spent 18 years in the military. I don’t beat around the bush. I do make some of my corrections in wise remarks. Like if you drift into a different lane, I will make a comment about if 1 lane isn’t good enough.
I'm the same way, which is painfully obvious to anyone who has been around this website for a while. I was raised in sports, and my family is comprised of steel workers, auto workers, brick masons, mechanics, military, and farmers. If you were soft you would be eaten alive.
There's a well known saying, "It's not what you say, it's how you say it." My family and friends have never heard such nonsense I'm afraid and would probably call you names for suggesting such stupidity.
I feel a person should be themselves but at the same time always look to improve in every way possible. I always look at Old School and his incredible tact. He has such a gift for the way he explains things to people. He could tell you that your mama is ugly and you're totally clueless in way that would make you want to shake his hand and thank him for his kind and helpful insights. I always strive to be more like that but my Italian New Yorker always comes out in the end no matter how hard I try to hide it.
To be honest, I can't remember who it was, but in a recent conversation someone here explained to someone new that we're a bunch of older folks that come from a generation where being honest and forthright was considered good character. I still feel that way and always will. I feel you should just tell it like it is and let the listener decide what to do about it. If they decide the truth hurts then they should focus on changing that truth. My delivery will rarely be gentle, but it will be honest.

I think we would get along well, LOL
I don’t do the NE though for trainees. After my last trainee, i’m ONLY going to do OTR guys or guys that live close. Since, most guys want Regional or Local......
All I am gonna say is after the issues Greenpac/Norampak have been having over the last month, I feel for you. That and I want to stay far, far away from Niagara Falls.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

The best definition I have heard about Tact was: “The ability to tell someone to F off without them knowing.”
Operating While Intoxicated

Actually, I plan on telling them I'll run wherever they want, as long as they get me home for my 34. I think just running NF to Syracuse and Pittsburgh will quickly become boring. I know they run all the way to Maine, so I'll take an run they want. Hopefully all those runs aren't Norampak. I saw where some guy posted he waited 7 hours to unload. I guess that is why they pay hourly for that position, LOL.
I'm actually hoping my wife gets used to me being gone and I can start to run OTR.

Better to know exactly what the other person is thinking and saying, in my opinion.
When I first came here, I thought you were a little rough, to be honest. Then I realized you were just telling it like it is, much as I do. Tact has never been my strong suit. Which is how I got my nickname, LOL.
