OK I have to say never had this odd of a load before, well here I am running the west coast instead of getting home when my qualcomm Goes off its my dm asking if I can do another run from Vegas to south Cali then from there to ga for a home load. So I tell him send me the info, here we go I get the info it says bobtail to shipper ull be hauling a circus trl.

I literally called him and asked is it ready and where do I take my trl,he asks what take it with ya,so I tell him read the info then boom he just up and busts a gut on the phone, here I am thinking omg I'm goin to be hauling some monkeys,an elephant or some other animal. So I arrive just a bit ago and they ask me to wait till morn.BC they don't have my trlr ready.I ask them am I hauling any livestock.

To my relief they say nope we will get ya the first trl to leave that's our generator,we have our own trucks haul the animals. I told ace earlier if we haul live animals we goin too have another in the truck BC one those guys goin along, all BC I'd need shots records and an endorsement for livestock.

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Oh man....I wish they would have made you haul something really fantastic like a gigantic pink elephant trailer or something! rofl-3.gif

But the best part about it is now people can say "Oh my God, here comes Crazy Rebel. That means the circus is comin to town!!!!" rofl-2.gif

Of course, people probably already said that about you rofl-3.gif

I will admit it up front.....I've always said that if the last job I could get driving truck was haulin' the circus around, then I guess I wouldn't have a job. But we picked up a load of catwalk, all different lengths, and everyone a different color !!! we looked like we were haulin' carnie stuff...I was sooooo embaresed (sp).... Pullin' carnie is one step below haulin those cardboard bundles, that leave a trail of cardboard flyin' off, and that, if you get rained on, will put you over gross at the next scale house you pull thru. I was out on the truck while TSB was home recovering from knee surgery, from jumpin' off the trailer...and what did they load me with ?? Cardboard !!! If it had been anywhere else (Green River, WY, theres no freight in that joint), I'd have refused the load. BUt the load was headed towards the house, and I didn't wanna sit a weekend. So I thought, no biggy...I'll tarp it !! oh heck no !!! you can't tarp that stuff. they bale it with this really thick wire, that sticks up all over, and would tear my tarps to shreds. I did make em cut off ANY cardboard hangin' out tho. And I did ALOT of night driving....
