Jenn260, I'm not going to state anything that hasn't been said already. You have a tough road ahead of you but it's not insurmountable. You can take the hard truth that has been said & either use it as fuel to sink or swim. You can find the inner strength necessary to pull through & make this your life or you can take the words spoken here as another form of victimization & allow them to drag you under. We don't know you, we only read what you post & make a determination according to our experience. Do not dismiss it all. There is tough love & concern written within those responses. Use those words to fuel your determination to grow, take responsibility, use your voice & draw lines when someone crosses your sense of stability.

One thing I don't agree with is the fact that your boyfriend lied to you under the guise of protecting you. That is not how love is supposed to work. How did you feel when he had to finally tell you the truth. You had a plan on how to succeed at get your foot in this industry's door. He jeopardized both of you by not being upfront. I'd rather be hurt by the truth than deceived with lies in order to be coddled. All the best of luck to you going forward. Everything that has happened already is said and done. Today is what matters. You matter. God bless & stay safe.

On that note, she sent me an email yesterday asking me to delete all of her posts and all of the conversations she was in from our website. My response was:

You've gotten honest, helpful opinions from experienced professionals in this industry. Those are some very good hearted people with a lot of life experience. In the end you decide what advice is best for you and you make your own decisions. I don't allow any inappropriate comments and in my opinion there weren't any. They were heartfelt responses from people who want you to see all of the complexities involved with your situation and they want you to go on to be successful with your career. I hope you can take a closer look at what was said and consider it with an open mind. You can't just block out anything you don't want to hear. You'll never learn anything that way.

I have another update!

Jenn and I have emailed a few times and I've encouraged her to come back and continue the conversation. She said she's afraid she has upset too many people but I told her that wasn't the case. We just get a bit on edge when we see people struggling because we really want to help people succeed.

I also reminded her that truckers aren't exactly famous for their gentle bedside manner. We're a lot better at tough love. In fact most of us can't help it.

So she's gathered the money that she owes the school and she'll be testing on Tuesday. Hopefully she'll keep us updated and return to the conversation.

But it sounds like she's back on track!

Good luck Jenn! we're all pulling for you. As others have said what happened isn't right but you've done all you can about it.

Nice! Really Nice!

Most people just cannot fathom how many difficulties they're going to face when trying to get this career started. There are a thousand different things that can easily get us sidetracked or disturbed. I'm actually working on a new article concerning this very topic. Now, if I can just get a break from how busy my schedule has been the last couple of days, I'll finish that little project.

I look forward to reading it. I'm currently enduring my own struggles and chipping away at the wall. Any advice from vets who have been there would be greatly appreciated.

This is the place for answering your questions. First, use the 3-bar menu at the top left to find all kinds of resources. Second, look in the Trucking Wiki (it's in that menu). Third, use the search box, top left of this page. Put in the term you want, and all the posts are there for you.

Finally, just post your question in the forum. It's all here, Banks.

Glad to hear that Jenn is back on track. Being a professional driver, it's a difficult, but not impossible goal. So many times people do get sidetracked and then completely derailed.

We never really get offended by people's posts so she's certainly good there. We simply want to help, but sometimes people aren't ready for the unvarnished truth they'll find here.

Again, congratulations, Jenn on sorting this out. You can do this and we're cheering you on.

No we are not. I've been known to bite

Glad she is going to finish. I hate when people give up. Especially women cause it plays into the "women are weak" stereotype. Screw that. I drive a big scary truck too. Hopefully, one day so will Jenn.

I must say I am proud of all the men on this forum. Women tell me every week they are afraid to come on the road because they are women. I try to explain that most men help female drivers. This great grouo of guys just proved my point.

So glad im out here truckin along with you all.
