Companies can create their own acceptable and unacceptable health issues and prescriptions. Even if something is acceptable at one company and legal, it may not be accetable to another. Prime for example does a seperate agility test besides the DOT physical.

My other half is bipolar, has driven for years and years taking lamictal. There will be medications that a DOT medical examiner will not allow and there will be companies that will have a stricter list of what they won't allow. My company allows his lamictal so he's good here.
First is to find out if your current medications are banned by FMCSA , then if not, find out if your meds would be allowed by a company you are wanting to apply to. If medications are banned, your doctor may have to adjust your medicine to something that's allowed. It's doable but might be a lengthy process depending on what your current medications are.

I'm bipolar and I take medication prescribed by my doctor. Is there still a chance I can drive a truck or does this disqualify me? Are there other people out there that pass a DOT physical and are trucking while being bipolar?
