Don't forget to take that apparatus down in the morning before you leave, Turtle! I'd need to leave myself a note on the steering wheel.smile.gif

Ha! Yeah the cable comes in through my door, across the floor, and up to my tv. I have to move the cable & tv to get to my coffee maker, and you better believe I won't be forgetting my coffee in the morning so....it's like a fail proof reminder lol

My wife bought a couple of the Amazon Fire Sticks and sent them to my son and he did a jail break on them which pretty much gives you a ton more ways to find shows you want to watch. It doesn't take much to do the Jailbreak and you can probably find one for sale on Craigslist already broken..

If you have internet, they'll work by just plugging into a USB port on your TV..

Then again, I've got a ton of books on my tablet I'd prefer to read. I need to find a candle that smells like old books to make it feel like I'm really reading a book.

Is anyone using Pandora for music when you're driving?? I picked up a "jail broken" version of that and I've been using it for over 10 years now. On a drive from Vancouver, WA to Las Vegas a few years back, the only place I lost reception was near Weed, Cali.. It was running on my IPhone and basically, I lost service in that section of the hills as well. I usually just type in the name of an artist I want to hear and it'll play music from that artist interspersed with music that is similar from other artists as well. I've found a lot of artists out there I never would have known about.

Why did I get the jailbroken version you may ask?? Because if you don't, you'll get commercials every 3 or 4 songs.. and if you registered your legal version in California, that's where your commercials will be based out of, no matter where you're driving that day.. Mine hasn't had a commercial in 10 years now.

I use a setup like Dave, except I use ATT wifi box for $80 per month of unlimited. I've gotten upto 100GB and still had enough speed to watch youtube without issue or stream a movie.

Which device do you use for that? And what is the name of the plan you're using? I'm browsing their web site now and it looks like the only kind of "hotspot only" device they're selling is the one for wireless home internet. It seems like the big carriers are all trying to avoid offering "true unlimited" plans.

the one that I have from Impact Wireless is a true unlimited plan - unlimited LTE with no throttle back after any particular amount. They do have potential deprioritaztion after I think 50gb...there is no way around that, but it would only be a factor if in some huge crowd of simultaneous streamers. I use it frequently and have never had it happen.

For my tv needs I depend on a combination of Philo and T-mobile. Philo offers 37 channels for $16/mo. AMC, IFC, History and Discovery are included and have everything I need.

My iPad is 4G capable. With the 6gb/mo. data plan and my veterans discount I can connect to TMO for $21.25/mo. While 4G data is capped at 6gb/mo. streaming video doesn't count against the cap. All the Youtube and Philo I can watch even if I've already used up my 6gb. Sweet deal.
