Simon, you've had a rough start already. Having already almost rolled a truck over, you know the powerful forces at work when driving a big rig. I'd suggest you stick with dry van work for at least six months and just concentrate on learning to handle that rig properly. Those flat bed jobs aren't going anywhere - they will still be available when you are ready. Take a slow methodical approach. Flat bed adds a lot of new things into the mix that you'll be better prepared to learn once you've developed your self as a driver a little more. There's no rush. Take your time and be safe.
