I can't believe I've never been there! You can bet I will be checking that place out next time I'm close by. Thanks for this heads up!
Wow I am by here at times and never had any idea this was here. I actually always prefer trying to stop at mom and pops whenever possible and only really use the big chains for fuel and my free showers haha. This is really good information thank you so much for sharing this. I actually just went into Trucker Path and marked it as one of my favorites so that I would remember to stop by next time and check it out.
Damn, I gotta check that place out.
Another reason I miss my little time OTR.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Very cool indeed. I thought I saw you coming back from Miami last week.. saw a knight/Sapa truck, but the guy was a whole lot younger so nope.. maybe sometime our paths will cross.

Susan, I noticed you were down in Miami last week. I'm in a loaner truck right now while mine is down for some repairs. I'm actually driving a red truck now with nothing indicating I'm a SAPA driver.

Lol I saw a silver truck and was certain it would be you, but when I passed, it was a younger black driver. I'm sure he probably thought I was nuts as I slowed down as I passed to see who was driving hahaha.
The "fuel counter" is a Case IH! Too cool!
I stopped there a few weeks ago and it is cool. I just stumbled across it as it was the perfect distance for me to run my clock out. The diner has good steak and all the right fixings. Showers weren't bad either.

I know I've posted about this place before, but we have new crowds in here all the time. I'm staying tonight at the Oasis Travel Center near Robertsdale, Alabama (I-10 Exit 53).
It's kind of a fun place. It's definitely different from the big players.
They have a restaurant called the De-railed Diner which features a really nice railroad dining car as one area you can dine in and the building is designed so that it appears as though train cars have crashed into it.
The inside of the diner is eclectically decorated with antiques that are all transportation related.
They also have some interesting entrances to the building. One is like you are boarding a train car...
Another is like you are stepping into an old VW (Hippie) van, complete with a surf board on top...
If you make a fuel purchase you'll be paying your bill inside from this tractor trailer rig that has been modified as a sales counter/fuel desk...
And as you leave the place through the old VW van, you'll get dizzy from the Peter Max style art decorations inside, and you'll see the message telling you to "have a nice trip."
It's definitely worth making a stop, and I've never had any problem finding parking here. I go down to Miami, Florida fairly often, and I usually stop here on my way back to the SAPA plant in Delhi, Louisiana.
