Took my CDL test this morning. Did well on the pretrip (84 out of 90), nailed maneuvers perfectly (straight line backing, offset parking and parallel parking), did enough on the road test to pass. Next week I go to orientation at Werner. Feels good to get it behind me.

CDL:

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Congratulations, Jim! I think that entitles you to dancing bananas or something, but I'll leave that to the higher-ups.dancing-dog.gifdancing-dog.gif

Nice job! I remember not too long ago that the idea of me getting into trucking was just a thought to consider. Now... I am writing to you from my sleeper berth in Alabama!! Who’d of thunk it! Go in with the determination to get through anything they throw at ya!

Sleeper Berth:

The portion of the tractor behind the seats which acts as the "living space" for the driver. It generally contains a bed (or bunk beds), cabinets, lights, temperature control knobs, and 12 volt plugs for power.
