I am new here, and this my second post. So I do not see any forum search tool here to look up this topic, so sorry if I err. What can one starting CDL school expect? How are urine tests given? Is it legal in any state to be observed while giving samples? And hair, what if you are bald? Yes I have read "body hair" then, but good lord, body hair sample from where? And some people remove their entire body hair--so what then? An invasive operation to withdraw a hair follicle?

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.

The urine tests are actually quite simple and mine wasn't observed.. However I did have to empty my pockets and not wash my hands or flush the toilet until I was given the okay. On the hair sample if you are bald (like me) then they will take a sample from wherever you may have it. If you do not have any body hair at all for them to take then that would more than likely be considered a refusal/failure...

For our urine test it was a same room type thing. they didn't exactly watch you but they could see if you were doing anything to alter your sample. I don't have much hair on my head so they took some from my armpit. if you can't or won't provide a sample it's not a good start for you. at the end of the day, these companies have a huge amount liability and want to reduce that as much as possible

I have given urine samples in the states of Montana, Texas, and Indiana; not once did someone observe me providing the sample. I am bald; to obtain hair for the hair follicle sample it was removed from my arm with a razor.

The only people I’ve known to remove all of their body hair are swimmers and triathletes; if an overweight or out of shape person shows up with all of their body hair removed, I would consider that highly suspicious.

I am sure Rainy and Susan might take exception to that...

Welcome aboard Neil.

Hey before you start trying to sort through reviews and all the comments the knuckleheads on the internet so freely produce, you would really be doing yourself a favor to read this piece on Why I Prefer Paid Training Programs.

There's a ton of great information in there that you will never be able to figure out by trying to sort through a bunch of lame hits you're going to get with internet searches.

You can also use the search bar at the top of this page. It searches the information found in our website, and you won't get led down some primrose path by Getting Advice From All The Wrong People.
