Turtle that is about the coolest picture I've seen on this forum. Big thanks for sharing it.
I'm right there with you Turtle! Grandpa (mom's side), my Dad, and me. Uncle's and cousins on the road too. Love it! I told my twin sons that they should consider teaming together when they get to be old enough. Haha!
So I'm just sitting here imagining what it must have been like to drive a truck back in the 40s, in the Georgia summer.
No air conditioning
No power steering
No satellite radio
No GPS
No interstate highways. Heck, over half the roads were dirt back then. Maybe more.
I'm thinking all this as I sit in my air-conditioned cab, listening to my satellite radio, planning out a dispatch that was sent over a Qualcomm , and plugging the route into my GPS.
Just makes me realize that we don't have it so bad. Those were the real SuperTruckers back then.

Yes an old IH KB 8 or 9, can't tell for sure. Gasoline engine. No splitter either. It was likely an in-line 5 or a twin stick 4-5 over 2. A ball the drive!
Still a very, very cool pic historically and part of your family lineage. Hope you have it framed.

Get copies of the first two pictures, maybe the one of you, too, and be sure to have them on the dashboard of your truck.
