That's great. Have fun in that drop yard, it's fairly tight. Hope you get there in daylight, it's easier there then. Sounds like you're getting some good learning runs. Enjoy the mountains into NC.
Glad things are progressing well for you Don. Best of luck for success!
I'll be driving down I-26 right past Hendersonville, NC where I lived for 15 years and will see from that route, my last employer there. The would be shocked if they knew I was driving a truck.

Drove from Mt. Pleasant, IA to The CFI drop yard (TCW). Got to drive right by the town (Hendersonville, NC) where I lived for 15 years. This Charlotte yard is an absolute mess. Trailers stacked 3 deep in front of the trailer we are to pick up. Waiting to hear from dispatch when the yard dogs here are going to move the 3 deep trailers in front oh ours. Had a good day driving, though. Supposed to head to Lakewood, NJ tomorrow.
Yes, that place can be a challenge. Nice and dusty too. Hope you got out of there. If you got stuck there, I could have told you the short cut to Walmart.
Left the dust bowl aka CFI Charlotte yard and headed for Lakewood, NJ. Traffic was bad along I-95 dealing with 2 wrecks and the Baltmore/ Washington, D.C. areas sucked. Even with that, I got in 517 miles today and 1900 miles in the 4 days I have been with my finisher. My coupling is still a little rough, especially if the lot is inclined due to the autos plus my lack of experience. Myfinisher says he is bored. He "is not used to sitting doing nothing" (besides teaching). He has been pushing us - rather CFI is - keeping us moving. He has shown me some shortcuts with logging to save our drive time, using some sleeper berth time to perform some non-driving duties at the end of the day. The days have passed quickly; I almost forgot today is Sunday. Tomorrow am, we will get to our delivery and I'll practice docking.
The portion of the tractor behind the seats which acts as the "living space" for the driver. It generally contains a bed (or bunk beds), cabinets, lights, temperature control knobs, and 12 volt plugs for power.
Great news. What coupling issues are you having? I have a hard time backing up bobtail. Backing the trailer, no problem. No trailer, I go the wrong way.
"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.
What kind of tricks with logging?

Today, we picked up a load in Mt. Pleasant to Charlotte, NC When we noted the time frame for deliver was 6/20, my finisher called his manager. That load was changed to a relay at the CFI Charlotte yard which isn't far from our original delivery, then we have a load to Lakewood, NJ for a scheduled delivery on 6/18. I have gotten amost 950 miles driven in these first two days plus the 500 scheduled tomorrow to Charlotte and then the load to NJ. I hope I can sleep better tonight and should since we are at a rest stop in SE Indiana.
