Previously I had mentioned on here that I was returning to the industry and going back through a academy in Champaign, Illinois.

I am now ending my third week of school entering my fourth, I take my pretrip and backing on Thursday and road test on Friday. That’s if everything goes according to plan which I am confident that it will. I’ve booked my orientation with HO Wolding for June 5th. Man the closer it comes the more eager it is to get things rolling. My class started with 10 and ended with 9. Unfortunately the gentlemen couldn’t make it passed permitting.

Just wanted to give y’all an update. I appreciate everyone here!

I guess I will have to make sure I'm available the 8th at the yard, lol. You will need a trainer after all.

Best of luck to you. Just remember that orientation is a week long interview. Keep your best foot forward in ALL of your interactions. Oh, including the local businesses as well. Small town and all. Word will spread if you misbehave or are rude towards the locals.

Patrick I suppose a trainer would be needed haha. I’m looking forward to it! Trucks are blue right? Haha 🤣

Illinois CDL testing is so much different than Missouri where I previously had mine. Although they are going to national standards starting in July.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
