The best way to prepare for your written test is with High Road CDL Training Program. Most people who use this pass the first time. This will work for you no matter what state you live in. You do it at your own pace. Here is some other great info if you are just starting to look into trucking.

The best preparation for the permit test is your own. It's simply a pile of facts you must stuff into your noggin. Don't put the onus ("OWN-us", a responsibility) for such a simple task on somebody else.

Swift has a "Permit Class" that takes four days, plus taking you to the state DMV on Friday. But in my opinion, you'll do better to study the High Road CDL Training Program in the comfort of your own home rather than get stuck in a hotel for an extra week.

Before getting their CDL, commercial drivers will receive their commercial learner's permit (CLP) upon passing the written portion of the CDL exam. They will not have to retake the written exam to get their CDL.
