Mongo...weird stuff does happen like that...but you should have called the police so they could stop him...falling freight can kill. I'm not afraid to drop a dime on an unsafe trucker. or a driver who doesn't know he has a serious problem. It may sound unbrotherly...but reality is a serious fact of life.
Ya know, there's just sooooo many details a driver has to take care of day in and day out that sometimes people can get lazy or complacent. Just when you think you have this job figured out it will throw you a curve ball and you'll realize once again just how quickly things can go wrong out there. It takes an incredible amount of discipline and focus to maintain that safety record out there. There are a thousand things have to go right to get through the day safely but only one thing has to go wrong to screw it all up.
What would be wrong with pulling along side or flashing your lights to get the drivers attention and let them know they have a problem. Im sure the driver would have been happy to pull over and correct it. Seems like a normal thing to do to me.

It is something to remember that one forgotten thing, careless moment, or one undouble-checked latch can truly cost real world lives. Complacency is an enemy that we all must be ever vigilant against.

Because pulling up beside a driver and getting his attention and get him to pull over sound good and reasonable until you learn that is how some people have gotten trucks to pull over and rob them. Really you can not be to careful out here now a days.

As I was on my into work tonight I seen something that I thought was very unsafe. I got in behind a a driver hauling a dry van trailer. As I got closer to him to my suprise I could see the cargo inside of the trailer. I had no idea as of why.
Well I found out rather quickly as we went around a curve on of his trailer doors was not secured. I am not how this could happen. So I backed off of the truck and really increased my following distance to almost 1/4 mile. Just thought that I would share this. And remind everyone to stay safe out there.
Dry Van:
