Most companies really try to give you the days off that you request. It is a good idea to give them alot of lead time, so they can plan your loads around it, so you will either get a load to or thru your home, or get you close enough to deadhead a reasonable distance. Its all about giving your employer time to plan around your home time. And I think alot of employers will let you "stock up" your home time, so you can take more than a few days at a time. But 1 day off for every week you work is about standard, unless you are on a regional or special run...
To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
At Werner we get 1 day off for every week we stay out. Though we do not get to collect them. One good thing is you are out 8 weeks you get 8 days off and can take them all at once.

Here where I work we get what the company calls "earned days off". Or EDO for short.
We get one per week. They are without pay.
I have a couple of quick questions.
With your company do you get "EDO's"?
When you plan your days off and they are approved, does your company move them around at their discression or do they leave them alone?
