Just for a little sobering insight...

While I was at Western Express one of our flat bed drivers pulled over on the shoulder of an interstate to do a "load check." He found a few straps that needed to be tightened up, so he got out his winch bar and started tightening things up. A distracted motorist ran right over him, killing him instantly. I've never forgotten that, and never been so foolish to tempt fate like that.
