Just researched this topic on the forum and am curious to see what y'all are listening to these days?

I've built out a playlist of over 200 songs for the road. A huge mix, of Jerry Reed, 70's-80's Guitar Rock ,Christian Pop, 90's Country, with some light sprinkles of grunge and alternative. Left out any songs with strong sentimental/emotional draw to avoid being mentally carried off to la-la land and therefore distracted and also any intense rock to avoid aggravating my adrenals in traffic or any of the other very stressful situations that await me in the future.

On a random music side note, here is an interesting song that is NOT by any means a trucking song but the lyrics appear quite interestingly fitting. Here are some lyrical excerpts from Wherever I May Roam by Metallica:

"And the road becomes my bride...I've been stripped of all but pride...so in her I do confide...and she keep's me satisfied" "I adapt to the unknown...under wandering stars I've grown...by myself but not alone...the less I have the more I gain...off the beaten path I reign...rover, wanderer, nomad, vagabond, call me what you will....anywhere I roam, where I lay my head is home"

Please share what you are listening to!! ;-)

Very interesting that you brought this up today. I've just realized over the past two days that I haven't listened to nearly enough Night Ranger over the years. Cranked up, "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" like two days ago and now I can't stop!

Speaking of lyrics, my handle for most of my years on the road was "Rolling Stone" because I lived in the truck, I spent 99.9% of my time amongst strangers, and didn't have a home or vehicle of any sort for most of 15 years. I got that from Bob Dylan:

How does it feel, how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

To be honest, I thought it felt great! I just wanted to travel the country and do my thing, whatever that might be at the moment.

After seeing you 1990's photo with the mullet, I KNEW you were into hair bands!! ;-) Good call on Dylan, I will have to check out his stuff too. Thanks!

We were blessed with music back then compared to modern junk.

I usually prefer to make my own and listen to it but I listen to a really diverse blend. I have pandora platinum.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Like Davy, I have Pandora Platinum. I think I have over 30 stations and I usually put it on the “shuffle stations” mode and I get a great mix that never gets old (unlike myself).

I listen to Georgia Strait a lot, especially when I’m near Amarillo. But my stations range from Frank Sinatra, Englebert Humperdinck, Eagles, Idina Mendel, Celine Dion, Sunlounger, Ryan Faris, James Last, Paul Cardall, The Seekers, and so many more. I just got Sirius streaming and am using that for news, talk and podcasts. Audible for books to listen to.

My favorite traveling band over the years was Bob Seger. I would put his music on a loop and just let it play. "Roll Me Away" and "The Fire Inside" being my favorites.

One song I really love that many of you may not be familiar with is called, "Wheels" by Restless Heart. It's a fantastic traveling song.

First I want to say...

Night Ranger... Wow, it's been 3 decades since I have heard anyone drop that band name. Great songs, though.

I listen to Pandora (the free version) and set it on Thumbprint radio and just let it go.

I will get anything from a mid 2000s band called Eleventy-Seven to Eminem to Norah Jones.

I mostly listen to podcasts over music, but I will get the music going to change things up sometimes.

Talking about music, I forgot to mention one of my all time favorite singers, Chris LeDoux. Very unique style of singing. He was the real thing, a rodeo champion, singer, songwriter, musical storyteller and he died way too young at 56.

If you’ve never heard him, you owe it to yourself to listen to him sing at least once.
