Tuition is paid and all requirements are met to start my 8 week journey to getting my CDL. Class starts 8/13/2018. I met one of the instructors today and look forward to getting started next Monday. I will keep a diary here and do my best to communicate my experiences (and get feedback from y'all). Exciting stuff. Let the journey begin!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I was going to do a review of the school after I graduated in 2013 but never got around to it. Pay attention in class the teachers will emphasize material you may see later. Also check out some of the skinny ass roads in and around Chipley. You will be driving them all. I had over 1300 miles logged by the time I was done. You will see several recruiters from the biggies and some of the local companies will send someone out. Best of luck...

I saw the training truck going down the I10 offramp at the Chipley exit today right before lunch. How is everything going?
