Big Scott and I speak about once a week to discuss any issues I may be having. He has been a great resource in how to approach and possibly resolve any issues I may be having.

Stating this, the point I obviously did not do well in communicating was just that, 'communication' - or the extreme lack there of- from those I depend on for information to assist me in getting the job of picking up and delivering freight done.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Thanks Scott, but I have to be able to deal with these issues on my own. Frustrating when dealing with too many cooks in the kitchen and none seem to know how to cook.

This reminds me of a story I heard when I was younger that always stuck with me:

This guy was stuck in rapidly rising flood waters. He climbed onto the roof of his house and trusted that between himself & God, he could get out of this situation. A neighbor came by in a canoe and said, “The waters will soon be above your house. Hop in and we’ll paddle to safety.”

“No thanks” replied the man. “I'm coming up with a plan on my own, and I’ve prayed to God and I’m sure he will save me”

A short time later the police came by in a boat. “The waters will soon be above your house. Hop in and we’ll take you to safety.”

“No thanks” replied the man. “Me and the Man Upstairs have got this covered”

A little time later a rescue services helicopter hovered overhead, let down a rope ladder and said. “The waters will soon be above your house. Climb the ladder and we’ll fly you to safety.”

“No thanks” replied the man. “Save someone else who needs it, God will save me if I can't do this myself”

All this time the floodwaters continued to rise, until soon they reached above the roof and the man drowns. When he arrived at heaven, the frustrated man demanded an audience with God. Ushered into God’s throne room, the man said, “Lord, why am I here in heaven? I prayed for you to save me, I trusted you to save me from that flood.”

“Yes you did my child” replied the Lord. “And I sent you a canoe, a boat and a helicopter. But you never got in.” ________________________________________________

One thing I take away from this is that knowing when to ask for and/or accept help from others IS taking care of things. ________________________________________________

But - hey man - its a bad day, it won't be the last one in this career. But there will be MANY great ones, and a lot of normal boring ones in-between.

Keep your head up, you got this, and you have the self-determination to make sure you get to the next day.
