I remember one time we had a person who was worried they'd have a big bald spot on their head from a hair test. We've also had people with no hair concerned about a hair test. There could be a lot of reasons why people are concerned about a hair test, most of which are from misunderstanding how it actually works.
There are other reasons for asking that, though. For instance, you might have had a terrible headache or toothache so you took a couple of pain pills from someone else's prescription to get you through it and now you realize that it's going to show up on a drug test.
I actually did this for a very bad ear infection before I got to the doctor. I don't do drugs, but I had to do something about the pain, it was terrible. Almost impossible to sleep. Although I was worried, it came back clean as it had already been a bit of time since I took them.
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
Then there are the people like me who are worried about a drug they have a prescription for showing up. No problem you say, but hold on.
I was a medical marijuana patient until July. In NY that does not involve smoking marijuana at all, it is either oil, pills, or a vape pen. It also doesn’t make you high. They say it could, but it didn’t do anything at all for me. Didn’t help with pain or help me sleep either.
Now, I am worried about it showing up in my hair test, even though it was a prescribed drug. How will my company Will they think I am hiding something feel about medical marijuana? Many people feel it’s just a way to get high legally. Will they take into consideration it was a pill? Or will they boot me even though my urine is clean?
To compound the issue, I haven’t cut my hair since August, but it is still only 1/2 inch long. If they use body hair it will go back a year. Will they think I am hiding something because my hair is so short?
Lots of anxiety, and I haven’t done anything illegal.
So every time I see the judge mental posts, I just shake my head. And then I wonder how many of those are or were drinkers.

How will my company Will they think I am hiding something feel about medical marijuana?
Not sure how that happened. It should read:
How will my company feel about medical marijuana? Will they think I am hiding something?

Documentation will prove why and when you took it. No question. Request the prescribing Doctor provide copies of your medical record and the pharmacy scripts. Take it with when you have your physical and be prepared they might ask for additional documentation.
Be honest, and provide answers/information for only what is asked, nothing more. There is no other way.
I can’t predict the future; however I think you’ll be okay.
Good luck.
In the previous 6 months before I had come into trucking I had been on all sorts of various pain medication. Oxycodone, morphine, various anti-seizure meds that are also used for nerve pain. A whole plethora of different drugs. I was asked am I currently on them. Simple answer is no. I wasn't worried as I could easily obtain proof of the medications I have been subscribed if questioned about it.

If it were anything but medical marijuana I wouldn't be, but people look at that differently.
But I do have my medical card, and I am sure I have or can get the prescription, and I saved the empty containers which show they are prescribed to me. I also used opiates within the past year, and that doesn't bother me at all, as it is easily proven, and people expect it. But for some reason they hear medical marijuana and assume you were smoking to get high and just got some doctor to write an RX. It isn't accepted as medicine by a lot of people. My prescription was a bottle of oil, and a bottle of pills. They offered the vape pen, but at the time I was smoking cigarettes so heavily my lungs couldn't handle it.
I am hoping you are both right, it would suck to be turned away for a legally prescribed drug. I lay awake worrying about it, to be honest.
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I've been running like crazy! It's just a standard urine test.
Hi Adrian - What kind of drug test DHT administer - urinalysis or hair follicle? Thanks!
Thanks Adrian! Much appreciated!
And for all other wanna be drug counselors out there, thanks for your input as well. I don’t need to explain why I asked this question, I apologize that my question concerned you :)

Another concern people have is that they were on a medication that might make them look bad to an employer, like something often prescribed for anxiety.
So it's not always, "Hey, I smoked a bunch of weed two weeks ago, what should I do?" There are other circumstances people are concerned about.
