Daniel,
You mean to tell me that you are not allowed to off duty drive (which does not stop the 34 hour reset clock) to a truckstop? That just stinks....
I am currently at home, planning on going to my brother-in-laws for the evening.

Daniel to bad I ain't back in Texas at home I could come pick ya up and at least get ya away from there for a little while
Setting in a little convenience store parking lot that has about 10 places for trucks.
I wish I were at a decent Pilot, or Flying J. The problem with Chattanooga, TN. There ain't no good truck stops close by". That from several local truckers.
One even told me, sorry you can't go about 30 miles on up the road. There is a decent Pilot up there. Not huge, but clean and nice bathrooms.
Well, my pickup is in town tomorrow around noon. And I came from the west. If I travel that far out of my way, my company might have something to say about it.
But it is what it is. Just another day of the week to me. The only thing I am really happy about. At least I don't have to drive tonight. With all the drunks that are going to on the road later. No thank you.

Ernie, that is correct. As a company driver for Central I am not allowed to Off-Duty drive. It doesn't even show up as an option on my Qualcomm. However, if you lease a truck here, you are allowed to Off-Duty drive and can if you want to.
Logan, thanks for the thought! I wouldn't mind some wings at Hooters to celebrate the New Year!
Joe, same here man. I wish I was at a truck stop so I can at least shower and do laundry. Even a microwave would be nice!
A year ago on this day. I was with my trainer and we stopped for the night at a truck stop around this time. He bought two giant cans of Budweiser and drank them in the truck. He quickly threw them away and kept an eye on me just in case so i wouldnt take a picture and report him. That's how he celebrated the New Year! What a crazy guy he was...

I second the motion to be careful tonight. We used to call it "amateur night", because there were so many MORE drunks out on the road, besides US professionals..
Finally start school on Monday, very excited. Thanks to everyone for all the support and information!!
Am in London KY parked behind a shell station-lots of places to eat within walking distance but will have to let a shower go another day-delivery appt. tomorrow afternoon 3 miles away.
Being that I am no longer a truck driver, I'm staying in this year with friends. But I feel you're pain to the ones who are out there! I once spent a 4th of July at a Shell gas station/truck stop and my dinner that evening was...(drum roll please) chili cheese dogs! If any of you have the "pleasure" of driving tonight, watch out for the drunks and stay safe out there! Happy New Years!

When you get to Prime, even as a company driver you are allowed 2 hrs a day for off duty driving. You will find out the restrictions as to how you can/can not use them.
Stay safe.
