The cancer bit is easy. As long as you are no longer taking treatments and ANY type of pain drugs then you should be good. Of course since you were/are under a doctors care you will need a clean bill of health from him in writing stating you can performs ALL fuctions of your job including but not limited to assisting with loading and unloading.
I can't speak for the cancer part but the basic requirements are really simple and the main ones that get people are:
- Eyesight at least 20/40 in each eye (with lenses of course)
- Blood pressure under 140/90
- Drug test
- Hearing...you have to be able to hear a "forced whisper" from a short distance
If you're on medication they have to be approved by a physician for commercial driving. Basically they can't impede your judgment or alertness in any way.
But that's about it. The physical takes like 20 minutes. There isn't much to it.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if there is some documentation someplace listing the health requirements in order to become a trucker? Specifically, I was wondering how long after having cancer can you get a trucking job? Thanks, and Happy New Year!!
