I updated the link to the original news story on the topic and had to cut back the article because you can't publish the article in its entirety here.
This type of case was heard a couple years ago too.
i just mentioned this in another thread. The claims from the driver are that Prime told him what load to take, where he could drive, when he could take home time or vacation. And the evil.Prime monitored his truck with a GPS tracking device....oh the horror.
yeah, okay. they dont even tell me when or where i can take home time or vacation. he has the right to reject loads, take a 34 when he wants, drive his truck across country bobtail if he desires.
i can hear it now. "They gave me a choice to rent a brand new truck so i could call myself an owner and put cool decals and accessories on it. Then i found out this is actually work and am.upset. But Im a big bad lease op, i should be making $500,000 a year, way more than a company driver. "
Now with that said, i know a certain small fleet who pulls prime freight and leases trucks, one that is quite popular on YT and the owner told me "I dont like my drivers to do 34s, i want my employees to keep moving. And I dont let them go west. I have one fleet manager for the entire fleet and you need to learn to work with him".
THAT guy needs to get with it. If im leasing the truck, im.stopping when and where i want and running in the directiion i want. smh he ece used the word "employees" instead.of comtractors. that is gonna bite him with cases like this going on
"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

I love this! I think we both know l/o o/o who pull for Prime, and they do pretty much what they want. However, I don't think the case here is 'prime made me do this," or" "wouldn't let me do that." it is the issue of Forced Arbitration.
If you're talking about RST, he has company and Lease operators, and he might run his company drivers that way, but I have seen a few l/o in California on different occasions. Of course, he may have changed his policy, too.
