I wish you the best of luck, Grumpy! Always gotta root for a local boy. 👍
Thanks Andhe
I’ll try to do us proud. :)
Congrats, who did you decide to train you?
I lived in Rome, NY back in the mid-80s... who is training you there? I honestly can't remember which companies are based out of Rome and it's driving my nuts.
One week from today you can change your status to “in CDL school.” 😁
The very best of luck to you Grumpy but I know you are going to rock this!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Army and Han Solo, Sage School, and a pre-hire from HO Wolding. I went the private route solely because I wanted to work for Wolding, and they do not have a company school, but they do reimburse @ $200/month. Otherwise, I would have gone to company school.
Kim, thanks, I hope so.
Now to figure out what to take to school. The good thing is it is only 3 hours away, so I can come home on weekends, so that makes my wife happy.
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
Thanks G-Town, and anyone I may have missed.
