My complaint is NOT about having an AutoShift versus my former manual transmission.. it's the way my company has chosen to set the operating parameters of the truck, plain and simple. On an AutoShift, you can manually downshift as appropriate when descending grades, etc. just like you can in a manual. I'm not reaching for a non-existent shifter quite as often. I do enjoy driving a manual personally, but it isn't a deal breaker. My first truck was a Volvo AutoShift and I LOVED it. My second truck was a 10 speed manual and I LOVED it. My third is an AutoShift that I despise, but not because of the transmission.
