Hey Andrew C.
Like everyone else has been saying, many people don't pass the first or even more times. I myself had to retake the skills portion...just started overthinking everything. In practice I could nail the maneuvers with no problem, then when I tested you would think I had never been in a truck before lol. But on the 3rd try I passed. Your going to be nervous and that does funny things to people...just take this as a learning experience and keep on pushing. Good Luck!
Andrew, I took my CDL exam a few weeks ago, went into it knowing the material, knowing what was expected, and then, wham!, major brain fart. I failed the pre-trip because of a very stupid mistake on the air brake portion. I knew better! Came back the next day and passed it. Went on to the backing and failed the alley dock. I know how to do an alley dock with the points on the course. I got into a position I could not get out of. Came back the next day and passed all three sections of backing. Went on to the road test and passed it. I was so relieved when the examiner told me that I started shaking and, yes, crying. Like GTown said about his friend, each time he failed he came back more focused and determined.
You’ve got this. Before each part, step back, breathe, and think about what you are doing.
Good luck!

Andrew I have a very good friend I attended Swift Academy with many years ago. He passed his CDL tests on the third try, each failed attempt elevated his focus and motivation. Fast forward to the present, he is an accident free, top performing driver for the trucking division of Toll Brothers Builders. No one cares or likely even knows it took him three attempts to pass.
Stay positive and continue to practice on the parallel and any other maneuver that is a weak point.
You’ll get it. Good luck!
