Hey Prof. X, Thanks for taking the time to write down your experiences with Roehl. I'm currently going through my pre-screening and cdl permit prep. I found your thread very useful, especially because it is so recent. Can I get an update? tell me more about your experiences during your ojt. I'm excited to start, but I want to make sure that Roehl lives up to their hype and recruiter promises.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I'm posting his other threads here. He went eventually quit Roehl, and honestly just sounded like a whiney cry baby with no understanding of personal responsibility or trucking in general.

Prof. X, I'm a little surprised that you left Roehl. I admit, it was nice having someone feeding me info from 6 months further into my career. Sorry to hear that Roehl wasn't your cup of tea. Perhaps Hunt will be more your style.

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Avvatar, it wont be. I could tell from his first post that he would jump ship. He wont like JB either and then will quit altogether.

When you see a newbie complain about the hotrl food etc...you just know theu wont last. then when it becomes the trainers fault, i give them 6 mos.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
