Thanks, Old School! You are one I have learned from, along with all the regular moderators and commenters. I make it a daily habit to keep up with new topics and comments here. It's like going to graduate school for free. Thanks to all for contributing their time to help educate new entries into the profession, like myself.

It seems like I know a number of people who regularly post to the forums and discussions. So I finished my 3 week course at Diesel Driving School in Sun Prairie, WI on Thursday. Friday was a day off and today 5 of us tested with one examiner the school uses for the DMV testing. 3 out of the five passed and I was the last one tested. When my turn finally came, it was almost dark for the pre trip inspection and backing maneuvers. I was penalized 6 points on the backing. (twelve points are allowed), so I was pleasantly surprised by that. Then it was completely dark AND raining when we headed out for the driving part. In school, I had no opportunity to drive after dark or in the rain. However, I proceeded with caution and didn't make any fatal mistakes. When we pulled back into the testing area I wasn't at all sure I had passed the driving part. The examiner was kind enough to let me know I had passed and then helped me to understand where I could have done better. Now on to the next phase: selecting a company to drive for and continue my training under their wing. I know I have a lot to learn and a long way to go. But let me thank all the moderators and those who post their own experiences on Trucking Truth. This site has been a big part of my education.
