Well it was a fun ride and I learned a tremendous amount in a short time. I still have a ton to learn! I've been pulling a 53' flat for my entire first year with Melton and it has surely had its ups and downs(many more ups than downs). I managed to blast through the last year accident/incident free, zero damage to freight, and 100% early or on time delivery. It's been a wild ride for sure.

Unfortunately, I will not be with Melton for the immediate and foreseeable future. I'm on my way home for a much needed home time and paid vacation but for the last time in the blue t-680 which I've come to love and hate.

My next adventure in this industry will most likely be in a peterbilt dragging a cottrell high rail trailer. I can only say most likely because the company, who has accepted my application, has a fleet made up mostly of just that but there are stragglers i.e. Volvo and freightliner. I have wanted to haul cars for a very long time now and it looks like I will have my opportunity in the new year. I am fully prepared to put my newbie hat right back on and brace myself for the storm and steep learning curve all over again(I was just getting comfortable too lol).

I just want to say thanks for the advice from the start and along the way. I'll be around as always, just busy busy and not always able to leave a comment or post. Goodluck to everybody just starting out and be safe to all.

Lol my other half is a huge car nut. He has over 15 years of flatbed experience. He's talked about us going to Reliable as a team. I remind him I have ZERO securement experience, but he insists that they'd hire me as his codriver. It's his dream but I'm content where I am. I often tell him if that's what he'd really like to do, then go do it lol.

His degree is in automotive engineering design, and after working for the only dealership in Alabama that was certified to work on Ferrari's and other exotics etc, he had to leave his career there because he's allergic to petroleum products and it was making him really rashy. His doctor told him he had to stop working on cars so he began driving a truck. He misses being able to climb in those things lol.
