I kind of took the best of both worlds with linehaul. But personally I would go with home time over money my philosophy is too enjoy the money I make, since I finally have a job where I can afford to have some fun.
But obviously everyone's wants and needs are different.
Linehaul drivers will normally run loads from terminal to terminal for LTL (Less than Truckload) companies.
LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning them to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.I agree with Bobcat. I chose both by going with line haul also. Which is more important will definitely be different for each person. I like still having a consistent home life everyday doing all the same activities I’ve always done. For me home time is my top priority but luckily I didn’t have to choose only one. My job is a perfect fit for me.

What's your definition of freedom? For me line haul work would be torture, somewhat like a slow death. I love the open road. I have the freedom to criss-cross this great country and earn as much money as I like while enjoying that freedom. I've never felt as though I had to make a choice between the two.

What I do is pretty much Linehaul except I pull a mix of 48 and 53" inch trailers. Home everyday.

In the trucking industry, basically if you don't turn the wheels (like stopping at home for a few days) your not going to get paid.
And yes, freedom is your own definition. I agree with Old School, line haul is torture. But there are those who can't believe they get paid to drive the same route every day.

Hey guys, I'm curious. How many of you would take freedom over more money. Would you choose a job that pays fairly and give you the option to work whenever you want or you would choose a company that pays more but would be home once a week?
