The same thing can be accomplished by stoping the truck and turning off the main power switch (most are on the floor, next to the drivers seat. It forces a hard reboot.
If they catch you mucking around with power cables on a company truck, might not end well. Be careful.

Not all trucks have a battery disconnect.

I still would not muck-around with the cables between the UI device and the main power supply/CPU.
I know I often had issues where the NAV would just blank out, then say "Connecting"--very annoying, happened once in the heart of St. Louis when I had been a dummy and didn't set my secondary GPS and look up the route ahead of time. Thankfully I was on the phone with my wife and she pulled some serious moves and had me routed in a quick second. Anyway, I'm not helping with your problem here. :-) I always had to call road assist and have them reset it--I never could find an option to reset or powercycle it, and never could find a reason it would do this. I wish the quality of these devices would improve just a little bit.

A little PSA for those who may have the same issue I have. QC locks up, display flashes off and on, touchscreen unresponsive. Talked to Omnitracs support and they told me it was because communications were lost. Probably the WIB cable or antenna. Self help is to find the black box (for me it's in the side box, under the bunk), unplug the cable that has a square attachment to the black box, replug after 10 seconds, touchscreen works again. Oh boy.
