At a minimum you’ll probably need a refresher course, then road training.
Depends on the company, same may want to go through all the schooling again, but at a minimum count on having a refresher course.
If you can not commit to using your CDL right away, you may as well wait till you are imo, because chances are you will have to redo schooling if it has been even a few months.

An add on to this , If you do keep your A CDL current but aren't using it for employ could you apply and still get hired through one of these companies schools and would be a leg up so to speak as you already have passed your nessecary exams and just need training and experience . I have my B CDL and many Bus and straight jobs will offer a job and training at a expedited pace since you already have the liscence but are trying to gain the experience , would these large companies offer an opportunity to people in that situation ? Some of the bus companies around me even offer a sign on bonus if you have the B with neccesary endorsements but that's a whole other ball of wax .

If you obtain a CDL and then for some reason never get into driving, but you maintain your CDL.....if you want to get into driving down the road, will companies hire you like you just graduated school? Will they tell you to go back to school?
