My new Garmin is on Foursquare and can't find the wall Mart facility in Ochelata Ok. Can anyone help me ? Not sure what happened, but I don't think it was on Foursquare before

Go to Google maps and try it's directions. Maybe message to dispatch or call the customer.

Not sure about the Garmin GPS but with most you can do a factory reset. You may need to resetup some things like routing preferences. The IT guy I used to be would ask, "did you try turning it off and back on? "

I did the factory reset. Then it said there were no detailed maps on the device and it needed it. So I am sitting here running an update on it, but it is slow as molasses.

I haven't used a garmin, but you know it's "Walmart" and not "wall mart", right? Maybe that will make a difference.

Map data on my Rand McNally takes a while to update also. Something I've learned to do the hard way is to scout out locations with Google maps. Make sure you do a macro 19 then double check the GPS and Google maps to make sure you have a safe route. Also, some locations are so new there aren't valid addresses in the GPS. You may need to use the nearest good address. Case in point, the address for prime1 isn't a valid address on my Rand McNally. Had to use the intersection of E Kearney Rd and N Packer Rd.

Hope that helps.

I will use satellite imagery on Google or bing.com, a couple locations have shown me where the docks are that allow me to see entry point into lot......

The update kept freezing and another driver came over and said, "oh no. I did the same thing. It won't load. You have to hook it up to a computer. It wiped out all it's maps before it started.". He took his back for an exchange and vowed not to update it. I was able to get a full refund and went with a simpler version of Rand McNally. Since most everyone here uses those I will ask about updates when I am ready to do them. Do I need to update it? It won't connect to my hotspot for some reason. I did get it on, and yes it is navigating. Lol. I know it is Wal Mart. I was frustrated when I sent the message.

I'm confused. Your first post was around 7 hours ago as I write this. That would be around 10:30am central time.

Your last post was 3 hours ago. That would be 2:30pm central time.

So, between 10:30 and 2:30, you were able to return the Garmin, get a full refund and buy a new Rand McNally?

I know it's too late now but there is a user setting to select whether you want to use Foursquare or not.

On the other hand, a factory reset should not have removed the maps. Maybe there was something seriously wrong with that unit.

Glad you got something going!!

Yep. I was passing a pilot on the way to OK. So I just stopped. It took 20 min. The casheir was so nice. When you do an update on Garmin it wipes out the maps to reload the new ones and unless you have a home computer, fast internet and 8 or so hours to spare you are basically screwed. You have no maps except Foursquare.
