It'll be very difficult to get a job even if you pass and get your CDL.
Why? Because companies require some kind of certificate stating that you have completed at least 140 hours of training. If the company won't be training you, then they will want to make sure that you have been trained properly. They do this by checking what school you attended and your certificate of completion.
Having a CDL does not mean that you are a safe driver, nor does it mean that you know what you're doing.
You either have to attend a company sponsored school or a private trucking school. If you're so inclined to get through this as fast as possible then browse the private schools in your area and ask if they can put you through some kind of accelerated learning program.
However, company sponsored schools usually get you your license a whole lot faster!
But, I warn you. This is an extremely difficult job and learning to drive a truck is overwhelmingly difficult and challenging. If I were you, I would take my time with it and not rush. Whatever you do, do not get your CDL without a school. Its a pure waste of time and money because no one will touch you.
