Hey, don't know if I'm allowed to do this, but I'd like to recommend Midland Cb talk. I have heard and read about how there is a lot of trash that comes on a regular Cb to the point that a lot of drivers don't listen to the regular Cb unless there is a traffic jam. If your looking for a place to have a civil and friendly conversation with drivers and regular people, this app is great. They don't allow all the drama and abuse that other talk apps have. If you wanna come over, my handle on there is Crocodile. Come on over and talk!

That's all well and good Conservative. But there is simply no replacement for the real-time info that can only come from a CB.

You need to to be able to hear "Hey Prime back it down, there's a crash right in front of you!".

Or "Drivers, they got the highway shut down at the 101. You may want to take Route 11 around"

No app can do that.

There really isn't all that much trash on a CB anyway. Most of the time there's just silence. It's rare that i talk at all on it. I don't keep a CB to chat. I keep it to save time and to save lives.

I'm curious when you say app how does such a thing work? Synced from your phone to the cb? How widely used is it among drivers?

Have you ever heard of it before now? Ever heard of a CB channel 19?

If you answered no and yes like everyone else then what's the point? You need everyone on the same page otherwise you miss out on important updates like Turtle pointed out.

No CWC I haven't heard of it before which was why I was asking, nor have I heard of "CB channel 19". I do not have one but will probably be investing in one soon that's what the point of asking about it was. I kind find many drivers these days to begin with that have a cb that I can ask these questions about. Appreciate the input though.

From a quick look, it allows people who use the app to sign up to join a group that can all hear the same transmission. It uses a dual mic, so that when you use your CB, it also transmits to the group through your cell phone

My bad. I fully missed it thinking it was a paid app. From Google store.

Channel 19 is the primary channel that drivers use. Some companies have a specific channel they use so their drivers can communicate with each other. Some shippers and receivers also use the cb to let drivers know where to go, etc.

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Sorry, I guess I didn't clarify. I understand the necessity of the regular Cb. CB talk will not give weather and traffic updates, but if you want to talk to a lot of people from all over the world and the US , you can do that. Its not meant to replace the Cb. It is a moderated push to talk app. They try to keep it clean and drama free and do not tolerate abusive or harrassing language. There are multiple groups or rooms to talk in. There is also a channel side where you can hold conversation without being heard by the rest of the users. It's a great app with friendly people. I came to the app because as a security guard in a building by myself, I got tired of listening to music and other things to keep awake. I needed to be able to engage in conversation. So I just figured I'd tell you about it in case you ever get bored like me and want to talk without threats , drama, and other nonsense.
