That’s a great story, Turtle. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back until your arm falls off. You deserve it. That was exemplary behavior. I’d pat you on the back if I could.
That was great Turtle! It reminded me of how you promised me a home cooked steak, grilled on the deck of your flat bed, whenever our paths cross. Man, I'm looking forward to that day!
FYI... I'll be in Cressona, PA tomorrow night. At your favorite shipper!
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Ugh! I was just there last week. Waited 6 hrs for my trailer to be ready. Not a bead of sweat shed by the workers there haha.

Big congrats to you and your wife!!! This doesn’t happen nearly enough in our society today, which is exactly a primary reason our society is in so much trouble!! Well Done
Excellent story and good stuff for sure. I did my little good deed today at Paddywax in Nashville TN today. I felt so sorry for this local day cab driver.. it was tight as ... Anyway he was going to pull down to the small dead end, do a u turn (so he wouldn't have to blindside into the dock) but he turned too soon. Yikes, we heard an ugly sound as he jacked it too far attempting to turn around. I jump out of my truck about the same time he did. The cab extender... Well it wasn't boogered up, but it ripped it off the mounting brackets on his Volvo. We're assessing the damages and luckily it would be a 5 minute 5 dollar fix at his company's terminal , however with that thing flapping, it would have most likely gotten all busted up when he was driving down the road :-/
I look for my supply of bungee cords to help him secure it from flopping in the wind, can't find the things in this disorganized mess of a non-storage truck of mine, but I did find a cheap dollar store extension cord I let students use to be able to charge their phones or laptops in the upper bunk.
Yeah it looked stupid but I managed to secure his cab extender by wrapping it around several times and tying to the brackets. It was nice and secure. Those goofy extenders are over $1k each.. unpainted so at least it wouldn't have to be replaced.. just one bracket and a couple bolts. It probably saved his job because his company doesn't hire rookies and don't take kindly to damage. He was extremely grateful.
And to the other male drivers there laughing their butts off at him and heckling him on the radio, karma is real. After he finally managed to get his truck out of the tight predicament, ANOTHER Volvo daycab (from a different company) almost did the exact same thing, but we got him stopped just in time.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.

Love that, Susan.
My favorite: "Duck" tape, baling wire and Vice Grips...a redneck never leaves home without some in the toobox....
So refreshing to read stories of helping, instead of heckling...well, heckling is fun to...as long as nobody gets hurt...
