Forgot to say thanks for this update Bobcat. I was reading this as I was leaving the Hinsdale Oasis. You were talking about Grant St through the Broadway St right? There were probably 7 cars in incident when I rolled through. And a semi jackknifed in the ditch on the westbound side. Nothing after that until the Chesterton exit where it was snowing hard with the street unplowed but as soon as I got on 30 nothing, no snow streets were fine. Very weird weather through there. Than on the way back as soon as I got back on 80/ 94 from 49. There was probably another 8 cars spun out including a pickup flipped on it's side in just that particular area.

Yup, I turned around at Grant, when I went through there 1 car spun out and hit the wall a few cars in front of me. That's when I started sliding and decided had enough fun, by the time I called dispatch and turned around there where at least 3 more cars all wrecked in that spot.

Glad you made it safely, I had heard 65 was bad on the CB i figured 30 would be as well.

Funny thing was I left our yard and followed 2 Dayton trucks and they both turned around and came back as well, when I got back to my yard I found out my route was closed due to ice.

Bobcat I gotta say you guys have guts. Watching a couple wiggle wagons come across I80 was scary seeing them swaying on the ice. We got back into des Moines and took I-235 to go thru town instead of 35/80 due to several accidents. 235 wasn't any better, Tanker yanker and an ODFL wiggle wagon involved in separate accidents involving cars. according to news story OD driver lost traction and hit the car and ruptured his own tank. Completely shut it down an hour for cleanup then an additional 3 hours you could only get by on the shoulder!

Sets in the ice are worse than vans, you have that extra pivot point and a rear trailer that has a mind of it's own sometimes. Add a empty or 2 in and it can get real interesting real quick.

O ok hours before me, I passed through about 3 and at that point I think I counted 6 cars 2 trucks not counting the one on westbound in the ditch.

Looks like you went through at the right time, at 11 the snow had just stopped and since it is so cold it was freezing quickly.
