Congratulations! I'm hoping to be in your shoes passing my test next month! Thanks for sharing your experience. It helps me to understand what to expect and helps me feel a little more comfortable.
Now the adventure begins. It was a long haul from concepcion (you wanted to go drive a big rig). Then to school and all the testing that does for ya. Then passing the final test with the examiner, now you have your CDL and look for a company that fit your needs. From type of freight, OTR or Regional , and how often you want home time. But now the sit down and breathe and be truthful with the wife and have her be truthful with you. You both can really focus on what is important.
Check out the diary from a wife of a trucker and have your wife read her side, it will give her a good perspective.
Congratulations again.

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Awesome. Good for you, and good luck.
