I think information about current events like weather, DOT enforcement and regulation changes would be great. I don't want to say it should be replacing anything but it isn't me doing the work.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
It'll be something I'm interested in, I don't always comment. But I read basically every new post everyday during any free time I get.
And I love keeping up with the news in general, especially trucking related. I usually only visit the general forum, and in my opinion would be the best place for it as it seems a lot of people do the same. But on the front page could also work.
I think accidents/photos can be a teaching tool... "this is what happens when you follow GPS, don't read signs, don't swing wide enough"
The problem is the company bashing and turning into Twisted Trucker. I don't want drivers humiliated, but at the same time, i think others could benefit.
when you see the crazy situations truckers get into, i think there can be a greater understanding og how hard this can be in the beginning.
All good points. When I posted the other day about another's roll over, I didn't mention the company name, because I didn't want to start bashing the company.
It would have been to mention these because the snow was heavy on the roads and the cleanup crew were having trouble keeping up.
But yes the latest trucking news would be good on the general forum.
I think it's a great idea.
Like Rainy said, it can be a teaching tool. It also gives the new and prospective driver a deeper understanding of the industry, beyond just driving a truck.
Having a dedicated section, and a post linking to the articles, seems a good way to do it. The same way that the special topic articles, and podcasts, are linked.
Absolutely! I think it’d be a great addition to the site. I vote yes

Ditto!
Brett, sounds like a good idea. Do you have the ability to keep that thread at the top of the reading que so it doesn't disappear as new topics appear? just a thought.
The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.
I read most everything on here, so I’d be all for it. No such thing as too much reading and learning.

We have a section on the website for trucking news articles and we post 3 times a week. The articles we're posting are mostly longer, more involved articles about important topics in the trucking industry.
However, I know a lot of you guys follow the news in the trucking industry and like to know what's going on right now. Would you guys like to see daily news headlines, maybe a list of the top 10 current news stories that truckers would care about? It could be weather related, accidents, trucking-related government headlines, ongoing DOT enforcement checks, black smoke matters rallies - anything and everything related to trucking, but mostly focused on short term stuff that only matters right now or is happening right now, as opposed to longer, deeper dives into important topics.
So the question is, would you guys like to see "today's trucking headlines" and if so, where? Would you like us to post a topic in here each day with a list of headlines? Would you like to see a list of headlines on the main forum page somewhere, like maybe below the list of conversations so it's not in the way all the time but still easy to find?
We're trying to figure out if this is a feature you guys would like to see, and how would you like us to implement it?
Thanks so much!
