I just. Can't imagine why you would waste your time like that. There are already means and methods to change things and, as nice as protest is, it never did write a change of the law itself.

There must be a similar dynamic in this slow roll thing to what I read about the French Revolution. Purportedly, a politician back then said: “Look! There are the people! I must catch up with them, for I am their leader.”

What are they even protesting? If I can make 2-3k a week hauling cars, I wont protest anything... ever lol

One of their very, very thin claims:

Due to the ability to hack into the trucks electronic logging device the truck drivers feel that their rights to privacy are being violated,” BSM says. “The federal government is not holding any responsibility to the vulnerabilities in which they are exposing the American truck driver.”

Brett, their statement is as clear as mud to me. Can you put that in layman's terms for those of us who are confused?

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

They're trying to claim that the electronic logging devices that drivers use to record their time can be hacked, exposing the driver's private information. It could very well be the most disingenuous argument I've ever heard put forth for anything. It completely lacks any merit. I really don't know how they could possibly think that anyone would take them seriously.

What they'd like to do is go back to using paper logbooks so they can cheat. It's as simple as that and the whole world knows it.

Logbook:

A written or electronic record of a driver's duty status which must be maintained at all times. The driver records the amount of time spent driving, on-duty not driving, in the sleeper berth, or off duty. The enforcement of the Hours Of Service Rules (HOS) are based upon the entries put in a driver's logbook.

It’s BS. These ELDs have been around for decades. If there was money to be made by hacking into the device, you’d already have read about it many times. It’s not a soft enough target and has little monetary upside for a criminal.

My question is, if “they” have the time to organize, stage and participate in a protest like this...how much time do they really spend doing the actual job?

Someone called them “hobbyists” in a previous thread. I think that’s accurate.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Until the early 70's organized labor pretty much had the trucking industry locked up and a driver had to join a union to work? Independent drivers and Owner Operators pushed for deregulation of the industry which happened in the mid 70's? 80's?. One of the claims that BSM is making is that independent drivers can not organize? Isn't the whole object of being an independent driver right there in the word "Independent" not being tied to a Union or Company! "Due to the ability to hack into the trucks electronic logging device the truck drivers feel that their rights to privacy are being violated,” BSM says. “The federal government is not holding any responsibility to the vulnerabilities in which they are exposing the American truck driver.” How easy is it to hack into an Electronic Log? Is it really a privacy concern or is it an ethics check because some drivers can not run - for lack of a better word - "Outlaw" anymore?

Owner Operator:

An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.

If they are so easy to hack why don't they hack them to cheat the ELD's the same way they used to keep extra coloring books?

Are they trying to get the 14 hour unstoppable rule changed? If not, what good are they?
