Hello ya’ll, nope my feelings are not hurt in the least. We all have things we love to do. I am an old dirt racer and raised my kids at the Kings Speedway in Hanford Ca. We raced IMCA dirt modifieds. I agree with Brett, Nascar isn’t what it once was, in my opinion because of the leadership. Big Bill France was a master at many things. He knew how to get the most out of a buck, the most out of people, and was a marketing genius. His son on the other hand did not learn the people aspect of the business very well. Just my opinion. I still enjoy it. This race weekend was special for me because it was a family vacation. My 4 daughters drove down with all the grandkids, 7 of the little folks. They all still live in central Ca. I flew my sister in from Ar. and my girlfriend got her company to grant her home time in fontana. She is a new driver for Stevens Transport. 17 of us enjoyed a wonderful weekend.
It was great meeting Tractor Man. I have met a couple of the Rob’s in Chicago and St. Louis. Was too cold for my brain to work and didn’t get photo’s with them. I guess a redo is in order sometime..My girlfriend did get photo’s of Tractor Man and I and we’ll be getting them to him.
PJ,
The invite for the NHRA Midwest Nationals, September 27 applies to you as well. I would invite everyone on the forum, but I have limited number that I can invite.
Thank you, that is most kind. I’ll mark my calendar and try my best. As it gets closer I’ll touch base with you.
I met up with PJ at the Nascar race yesterday. Great guy. I look forward to meeting other TT Members out here on the road.
More photos to follow
Tractor Man and PJ. Glad you got to meet up and have some fun.
Personally I will watch anything race, especially if it has a motor! If there was any chance of it being a contest I would probably watch the tortoise race the hare!
But NASCAR is NOT a personal favorite. FYI Brett... I moved around at the Indy 500. From good seats to lots of other good seats and/or vantage points. Tickets were attainable. The "virtual view" from the seat you are buying is a pretty cool feature.
I will start a new thread with what may become my new favorite!
I too am a bit NHRA biased, my step dad raced in the 60's "run, what ya brung" stuff he ran a ford f100 truck, quit in 1967 when my sister was born. Plus back then it got too expensive for him raising 5 kids etc. We spent many a weekend at the track in Irwindale, and at the 605 oval track sometimes....lol I make my beetles go fast hahahaha Well, when I can lay down 3 gears of solid black posi marks then a 4th gear chirp like stock 1st, its fast for me.....Nascar was fun to watch in 70's because they had crashes ! Safety is a big concern yeah, but when everyone has to run the "exact" same engine designs, etc , it took the fun out of it too.
Got something for you too Stevo!

I live about an hour south west of gateway if your talking about the one in Illinois
Kyle he is. I guess I’m lucky my terminal is 1 mile out the back gate from that track. There is a good size pilot right across the street from the main gate too.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

The earliest dirt track race I can remember was at Dodge City KS in the late 70s. Been a fan ever since. Raced dirt track in central Kansas from 92 to 94 and even won a few times.
Remember watching Dale Senior run the old Wranglers car on TV. Finally got to see him race in Texas at TMS the year before he was died. Junior won the bush race that week.
