It depends on the state but more than likely yes.
You will also have to do the backing maneuvers.
If you're upgrading you'll have to do the whole test driving , inspection , skills and static break test . It's a whole new classification of vehicle so yes everything is required .

I currently have a class b cdl with an automatic restriction. I am just wondering if I have to go through the entire exam again to upgrade to a class a. I know that I will have to go though the driving portion again so I can show the person giving me my skills exam that I know how to shift. But do I have to do the pretrip and the air brakes again since i already have completed them for my class b
