Thanks Old School. I was just thinking about the whole situation last night. I'm glad I started his journey, can't wait until I get on the road. I sat behind the wheel yesterday and imagined it.
It'll be real before you know it. Keep moving forward and learning. Sounds like you're doing great.
Hold on now. I was dismissed this morning from the program because I failed the backing. I had trouble with the Alley Dock but was learning it over the weekend. But this morning I was called to the office and dismissed. I will be going home today or tomorrow. Thank you guys for all the encouragement, and support. I will return home and plot my next move.
I'm sorry to hear that Doug. Company sponsored programs are great but that is one downside of them. Unfortunately they are very fast paced and some people take a little longer to pick it up.
Will you still be on the hook for the tuition although they sent you home?
Well dang, sorry to hear that Doug. Backing is a tough animal. It's unfortunate they wouldn't work with you more on it. Sometimes all it takes is that "aha" moment for it to finally click. This is by no means the end for you. If you really want it, you'll find a way. Good luck to you. Let us know how it's going.
Doug, sorry to hear they sent you home but it's not the end of the world. I went to school with 3 people who had the same thing happen to them at CREngland. They all passed and are driving now, 2 with PAM and 1 with Swift although I think the Swift guy may still be in training. Someone else will give you a shot if you want it, CRST's loss.
Doug, you are probably unaware of my beginning to this career, but I got sent home from three different orientations. It's a tough pill to swallow, but it's not the end of everything. You still have the potential to have a great career ahead of you. These things happen. We learn from them, we press on, and we conquer our fears and our doubts. It's a great lesson in realizing the resiliency required for this career.
Hang in there, and if you need some advice, feel free to reach out to us. Many of us have been right where you are.
Keep plugging away Doug. Don't get discouraged. Backing was the hardest thing for all of us. I'm not kidding you I've been driving 10 months solo and I still have times where I wonder if I can do it? I just delivered a load of cookie dough and I looked at the lot I had to back into and seriously wondered if I could do this I had to do a u-turn in the lot to get set up and of course there was cars parked all around. I did four goals just to complete the u-turn. But I got it in there. I'm rooting for you brother.
I've been home a few days now. I'm going to carefully research my options. Thank you all for the support.

Doug, trucking can best be described as a long journey. As for backing it just takes a lot of time doing it. Each scenario has a thousand different variables. Learning it on the pad for the test doesn't even compare to the real world. Take your time and be patient with yourself. Remember what you've heard us saying about commitment. This is a long term commitment you're making. It takes a lot of time and effort to get to where you are even mediocre at this job.
Keep pushing yourself. Don't settle for being average. Go for the Gold. Put all your efforts into being a Top Tier Driver.
