I have been going through the High Road Program and got stuck on the Air Brakes and for some reason I was missing the same 3 or 4 questions over and over and wanted to know if I can reset that chapter...I finally passed and finished but I don't want to go any further with the wrong answers still possibly in my mind....:( I was not reading the question's correctly and that was the cause of my errors...NOT paying close enough attention to the wording would have caused me to fail the test had it been live and for real..

I like the teaching format and will go over this section several more times before I go for the permit just to make sure

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Hey Ken. There's no way to reset your score on any one part of the program. You can reset your entire score completely from scratch but not partially.

You can however do the pages of the program in any order you like, including repeating the same ones. So if there's a section you'd like to cover more thoroughly you can do that.

Cool....I'm going to go back and refresh some of the previous chapters and my main problem with the Air Brakes was just not paying close enough attention the wording of the questions..:(

The Air Brakes are new to me so I will probably make some flash cards and drill it into my head...I like how the program reinforces the material and I will be ready for the NC DMV to get my permit before I decide on who I want to go with for Company Training.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DMV:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

Pretty much all three of the test required to your permit are very very easy questions but they sneak in the little word twist and thats how they get most people. It's good you caught it though now you are looking for it and focused.

Ken don't worry about it. I got hung up real bad on the air brakes section my first time through it also. In fact I reset my score and started the entire program over. Second time through the only time I missed a question was when I tried to go too fast and misread or did not completely read the question.

Yeah I think what always gets me is how I was taught before to skim over the question and answers quickly and then re-read them before I choose my final answer...I will try slowing down more and quadruple checking myself...what's funny is I knew all the right answers except for 2 questions I just kept missing the word which made all the difference, to how I was supposed to answer the question...tricky wording..:)

I'll go through the High Road Training Program again a couple of times to make sure I'm water tight and 100% ready then go for my permit...

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

I think the test may have changed since ive taken it in 2012 due to the new rules. but the 3 test are usually common sense. One thing i've found to help me with the CDL test and endorsements is get a note book. and just write down what you have to study. that way you absorb it because you actually are reading it twice at the same time. making sure you got it right etc. Good luck

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
