I have never set my trailer brakes when parking. Our trailer air bags deflate when the brakes are set, and some of our trailers drop enough to jam winches into the tires.
Because Rick mentioned it twice: I don’t know the state of everyone’s equipment, but I do not lose enough air on a break or even on a 34 for my brakes to pop. If they do, I’m out looking for an air leak.
Same here. If I ever lose enough air for the brakes to pop while I'm parked at night, then there's an air leak somewhere. Its been probably two months since the last time I had that happen.
Also, my truck has spring brakes on all 4 drive sets. I haven't driven a truck that only has 1 spring brake. I can't see how that wouldn't be considered a safety issue.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
And yeah I've seen trailers on our yards that have a tire with a groove cut in it all the way around where a driver pulled away before the air bags inflated and had a winch grinding into the tire
