It would be very cool if Trucking truth had a app! Love this site!

Tapatalk is where most of my forums are located, but I'm not sure what would have to be done to integrate that.

Hey Eric. We do have a CDL Practice Test App for Android but that's it. There's actually no reason to make apps because everything on our website works great on all devices. After making that first one I realized it was just an enormous amount of time spent building an app for no reason, really.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Brett, can I ask you what platform these forums are running on?

I think Brett built this site from scratch. All the "tapitalk compatible sites", run on some version of vBulliten.

It probably wouldn't be worth it, to try and port over to vb simply to be compatible with tapitalk, and the site runs pretty much 100% on every mobile platform I've tried it on.

Being the technology ignoramus that I am, I wasn't able to access TT while I was on the road. Then Brett helped me get it set up on my phone. Little did he know that would increase my ability to post goofy comments, but once in a while I figure out how to post something useful, I hope.

I can't see that an app would be of any use, but I'm happy with what I've got.

I've actually never heard of Tapatalk until just now. Didn't even know it existed.

Yes, I built all of the software that runs this entire website. Back in the day I used things like Wordpress and VBulletin but they were bloated, lacked the features I wanted, had a trillion features I didn't want, were nearly impossible to customize, and made it impossible to integrate one registration system throughout the website.

The entire concept of an app, and things like tapatalk, were mostly invented when phones became popular and the web at the time just wouldn't work well on a phone. I was able to build a custom website that worked fantastic on all devices of all sizes, had all of the features I wanted, and loaded fast.

For instance, our blog used to run on Wordpress, which was a nightmare. It's up to like 400,000 lines of code at this point, and that's without the 25 modules you'll need to install and update continuously to make it usable. The software I wrote to manage the blog has every feature I used with Wordpress and is probably 1,000 lines of code. I can also customize it instantly to do anything I want it to do.

So as always, if you want something done right, do it yourself.

By the way, I have a complete website redesign in the works. It's going to be a while before it gets implemented, but it's a pretty radical upgrade. Everything will function exactly as it does now, it's just going to look a lot better.

Take note drivers. The best never rest!

Quietly behind the scenes Brett is always working on improving the performance, appearance, and functionality of his web site. That's on top of all his other pursuits and interests. It's a common trait among people who excel at their chosen careers. The Michael Jordans of the world keep hammering away at being the best even when they are lightyears ahead of everyone else. They are still competing even when no one else realizes what they are competing against.

Professional drivers can increase their income substantially by focusing on improving their results. Always Keep Striving To Improve Yourselves.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
