Forrest, after you talk to DOT or DMV , let us know what you find out.
You are kind of carving out new territory here.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

I will do that. I’m gonna make some calls tomorrow

We sat in the cab and told the examiner what we would do, if they wanted you to do it you where in trouble.
But that is a interesting question my guess is no

Bobcat I believe just verbally stating it is an Illinois thing. I attended a CDL school in Illinois but we came across the border to Davenport DMV for our test. Iowa students had to point at the part they were inspecting while Illinois students had a 3rd party examiner that sat in the truck and would say something like "what would you check with the slack adjusters" and the student would verbally state it rather than point it out. We were also required to climb under the trailer to check locking jaws and inspect cross beams on bottom of trailer.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

I not sure what he means in the driving test? I got my cdl class a in Missouri only had to point to each item. However when I tested for my class b in Georgia we did have to use a creeper to show drive shaft, universal joints, etc .

I have to schedule a driving test with a DOT officer before I get my PSE certificate to drive legally.

This is an interesting question...
Under normal circumstances - a pre-trip is usually only identifying and pointing to things, and usually only once per axle set (as in - "I would also check such&such on the other side). Never heard of a skills test with a creeper going under a rig.
OTOH - with using a skills test to qualify for a PSE, the examiner may (or may not) be required to have you demonstrate that you are physically able to perform items in the inspection. This may vary from state to state and examiner to examiner (as to how strict the examiner THINKS he is required to be).
Also keep in mind, there are things you are going to HAVE TO DO as a matter of course on a daily basis - such as - going under the trailer to verify the jaws on the 5th wheel are locked when hooking a trailer, or going into a trailer to inspect and clean.
And believe me, we're all rooting for you here - but also looking at the realities of what's required for this job, and hoping that you can handle them and rise above your disability to do so.

Does anyone here have experience being able to use a ladder or creeper during a DOT driving test. I’m gonna call tomorrow and ask the DOT just trying to find out any info from drivers
