I’m a new driver looking for a first company. I have my CDL and obtained all the endorsements. I can’t find to much info on this company and was wondering if anyone can provide some info if they are a good company to start with. I have already been in contact with them so I’m aware of all their pay, benefit info.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Boondock.. I assume you're talking about Davis Express (and not Transfer) out of Starke, FL?

What I know is, they do southeast, reefer , and pay well. My other half has quite a few friends there. My understanding is they only hire experienced drivers. Has that changed?

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Yes the Davis Express in Starke is correct. They do hire new graduates but has to be from an approved school which they list all the approved ones on their website. Mine happens to be on the approved list.

Well I took the plunge and I have been accepted by Davis Express and start orientation next week. Since there is not to much info on them I will try and provide some “Truth” insight on my experiences with them for any other new drivers looking for information. I plan to continue to be active in this forum and thank this site for all the info it does provide.
