Had my first long haul this week. Left last Thursday from South Carolina to a mine in the Nevada desert and back, got home today. Round trip of just over 5000 miles. The last 20 miles to the mine was a dirt road. That was an experience. Normally I am two trips a week from South Carolina up to either Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Michigan LP. Head out on a Sunday and finish up on Friday.

What other long runs have the rest of you done?

Dan, was there a backhaul load in that situation. The way you worded that makes it sound like you went to the mine and then came back empty. That's going to be highly unusual. I'm just curious.

Oh no, it had a backhaul. My backhaul was at the mine and I took it to our terminal in South Carolina.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
