I bet it's for oversize loads.
Heavy equipment trailer
Most likely large construction or farm equipment as well as other oversize doohickies.
Wind turbine propellers
Last time I saw a rig like that on the road it was hauling one of those huge off-road Volvo dump trucks used at big construction projects. I needed one of those to move my ex-wife out.
Rainey is spot on, we seem them in New England with huge propellers on them. Imagine 1 blade per truck load lol.

Thanks Captain Obvious!
Used to see these going up Ft. Irwin Road at like 10 mph. They brought them into Barstow on trains.

Actually the wind turbine trailers are different from that.
That trailer is just a lowboy with extra dollies for heavy loads. It could be anything from farm equipment, to large underground tanks. Basically a regular flatbed load that is too tall/heavy for a standard flatbed or stepdeck trailer
A stepdeck , also referred to as "dropdeck", is a type of flatbed trailer that has one built in step to the deck to provide the capabilities of loading higher dimensional freight on the lower deck.

Sorry if the images aren't easy to see. I couldn't fit the whole length of this into a picture. It must be 100ft altogether. Look at all those wheels (if you can see them). Any ideas what this would be used to haul? Some specialty type of freight maybe?
